  • July 24: The Walt Disney Company releases The Black Cauldron, Disney’s first animated film to receive the PG rating and the only one until Dinosaur in 2000. The film went into obscurity for 13 years after the release due to suffering a great deal of bad reputation and budget problems.[12] It became a cult classic in later years, shedding its undeserved reputation.[13]
