Salvador Dalí made a substantial contribution to the script in the form of ideas, this being immediately apparent in the shots, symbolism and metaphors, which feature a strong surreal element. The initial title was “The icy water of egotistical calculation”, an expression borrowed from The Communist Manifesto.
