    • At The Open Championship at The Old Course at St Andrews, Tiger Woods extended his lead in the event to four strokes, this day over sentimental favourite Colin Montgomerie. Jack Nicklaus, in what would turn out to be his final competitive round of golf as a professional, would miss the cut shooting a par 72, but will end his career after a birdie on the 18th hole and a two-round total three strokes over par.     • Michelle Wie lost her quarter-final match at the U. S. Public Links Men's Championship, and will not qualify for the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia next April. (AP/ESPN)
