Plot
This article's plot summary may be too long or excessively detailed. (October 2021) |
Manoj Bajwa, a family man, hails from a middle-class Punjabi Hindu family and lives with his wife, Kuljeet and three daughters, Lakshmi, Shalu and Bani. The Bajwas are all set to get Lakshmi married to a man named Varun. Lakshmi is a kind-hearted naive girl who believes in helping others. However, when Lakshmi and her family are on their way to the mandap in a bus, a storm hits and the bus ends up dangling over a cliff. Everyone except Manoj and Kuljeet manage to get out of the bus. Manoj falls off the bus and dangles on it and makes his brother, Pritam promise that he will get Lakshmi married. The bus falls down the cliff and they die in the accident, leaving the Bajwa sisters devastated. On the other hand, Pritam's wife, Rano wants to usurp Manoj's property. She asks Manoj's assistant, Guru Charan to open the safe to get the money, however, he rejects her and says that Manoj's last wish was to get Lakshmi married and that after Rano completes his last wish, she can take everything. Rano later decides to pretend to give the sisters a happy life by taking them to Mumbai just to acquire the property. Whilst on the other hand she breaks Lakshmi's alliance with Varun.
Rano brings the Bajwa sisters to Mumbai. She tries to get Lakshmi married to a drunkard driver, Balwinder. Lakshmi saves the life of Rishi Oberoi, the son of an industrialist, Virendra Oberoi. However after a series of events, Lakshmi gets married to Rishi. Lakshmi and Virendra share a father-daughter relationship from the very first day of their meeting. Lakshmi falls in love with Rishi but gets shocked by Rishi's ignorance. Rishi's sister, Sonia , and Virendra's divorced sister, Karishma hate Lakshmi. Lakshmi tries to win the hearts of everyone but fails.
Later, it's revealed that Rishi's mother, Neelam forced him to marry Lakshmi because Rishi had a "Markesh Dosh" in his horoscope which is a threat to his life and the only way to save Rishi is to get him married to (Lakshmi) a girl who is lucky for him for one year. Rishi already has a girlfriend named Malishka, who is the daughter of Neelam's friend, Kiran, with whom he is planning to get married after one year by divorcing Lakshmi. In a series of events, Lakshmi saves Rishi's life many times. However, Lakshmi comes to know about Rishi's extra-martial affair with Malishka and sadly leaves him. Malishka makes Lakshmi's image bad infront of Neelam and she also starts hating Lakshmi. Neelam starts believing Lakshmi as unlucky for Rishi and her family.
After a misunderstanding created by Rano, Rishi and Lakshmi head for a divorce but are ordered to stay together for 3 months. Rishi and Lakshmi's relationship starts to improve but Malishka and her bestfriend, Sonal conspire against Lakshmi and Lakshmi sees Malishka in bed with Rishi. Actually, Malishka had intoxicated Rishi and only pretended to sleep with him, just to show Lakshmi. Heart-broken, Lakshmi divorces Rishi and agrees to marry Balwinder. Later, it's revealed that Lakshmi agreed to marry Balwinder, to trick him into marrying a girl named Kamli, whom he had impregnated. Rishi realises his mistake and brings Lakshmi home, thus taking her responsibility. He promises Lakshmi to get her married to a man who truly deserves her. Neelam fixes Rishi and Malishka's marriage, being unaware that Rishi has lost his interest in Malishka, and cares about Lakshmi. Shalu and Rishi's younger cousin, Ayush try to reunite them.
Malishka tries to obstacles in Lakshmi's path as she believes Lakshmi to be the reason behind Rishi's lack of interest in her. Unknown to anyone, Rishi falls in love with Lakshmi but is confused about his feelings. Meanwhile, Shalu and Rishi's younger cousin, Ayush start developing feelings for each other, but are unaware of it.
