Titwala

Titwala (Titvala) is a town near Kalyan in the Indian state of Maharashtra, Located in Thane District. Titwala is famous for the Siddhivinayak Mahaganapati Temple, where lakhs of devotees visit this temple during the auspicious days of Ganesh Chaturthi and Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi.[citation needed]

Titwala is a part of MMRDA and is easily accessible by Mumbai Suburban Railway (Local Trains) one can easily catch a Titwala train with code (TL) and reach the station furthermore trains heading to Asangaon (AN) and Kasara (N) can also be taken to reach the town.

The nearest Junction is Kalyan (KYN) and the nearest Airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport CSMIA

Titwala has a tropical monsoon climate that borders on a tropical wet and dry climate. The overall climate is equable with high rainfall days and very few days of extreme temperatures.

In Titwala, temperature varies from 22°C to 36°C. Winter temperatures can fall to 12°C at night while summer temperatures can rise to over 40°C at noon. Out of total rainfall, 80% rainfall is experienced during June to October. Average annual rainfall is 2000–2500mm and humidity is 61–86%, making it a humid zone.

Titwala has 2 major rivers running nearby is namely Kalu River and Bhatsa River.

It is the site of a temple of Ganesha and purportedly the hermitage where Shakuntala was born.[1]

The Siddhivinayak Mahaganapati Temple is located at Titwala. The day of 'Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi', a holy day in the Hindu Calendar, attracts large crowds. Titwala attracts visitors from the suburbs of Mumbai. Believers claim that if Mahaganapati is worshiped regularly, marriages of those wanting to be united can be arranged and that conflicts between husband and wife can end and those that desire a son or daughter, will have one born to them.[2]
