The Outcasts (professional wrestling)

The Outcasts is a villainous professional wrestling stable consisting of Saraya, Harley Cameron, and Zak Knight. They are currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where Saraya is a former one-time AEW Women's World Champion. Formed in January 2023, the team originally consisted of women who were formerly members of the WWE roster and considered themselves slighted and sidelined by AEW because of that previous association. Toni Storm was a member until she was ousted from the group in September 2023; she had also held the AEW Women's World Championship once while part of the group. Ruby Soho would leave the group as well in February 2024.

History edit

In November 2022, Toni Storm was defeated by Jamie Hayter at Full Gear 2022 and lost the AEW Women's World Championship. Storm would subsequently take a break from All Elite Wrestling (AEW); when she made her return to the ring on the December 23rd episode of Dynamite, Storm would team with Saraya against Hayter and her partner Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. in a losing effort. The following week, Saraya and Storm continued to work together and following a match between Storm and Willow Nightingale, the pair would turn heel together.[1] Following this, Saraya and Storm would dub themselves as "Outsiders" in AEW because, in contrast to "home-grown" AEW women wrestlers, they had previously been employed by WWE.[1] Saraya and Storm began wearing matching lime-green and black attire and would attack their opponents after matches with spray paint.

At the Revolution event on March 5, 2023, after Jamie Hayter defeated Ruby Soho and Saraya to retain the AEW Women's World Championship, Soho beat down Hayter and Baker before aligning herself with Saraya and Storm. This was the first time since her 2021 WWE departure and entry into AEW that Soho had turned heel.[2] Like Saraya and Storm, Soho would later claim she felt pushed to the fringe of AEW because of her previous WWE affiliation. On March 10, the group became officially known as "The Outcasts".[3]

On the May 3 episode of Dynamite, Hikaru Shida made her return to AEW from injury and initially teased she too would join the Outcasts. However, this later emerged to be a ruse and Shida subsequently sided with Hayter and Baker against The Outcasts.[4] On May 28 at Double or Nothing, Storm defeated Hayter to win her record-setting second AEW Women's World Championship.[5] Storm would lose the title 66 days later to Shida during the 200th episode of Dynamite.[6]

On August 27 at All In, Saraya defeated Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., Toni Storm, and champion Hikaru Shida in a four-way match to become the new AEW Women's World Champion. During the match Saraya and Storm initially worked together, however, as the match progressed, the two began to bicker. At the crescendo of the match, Saraya used a spray can on Storm before pinning her to win.[7] Following Saraya's victory, tensions between Storm and Saraya continued to grow.[7] At All Out, Storm seemingly turned on The Outcasts when she stopped Soho from using spray paint against AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander in their title match.[8] At Grand Slam, Storm failed to win the AEW Women's World Championship from Saraya.[9] Saraya lost the title to Shida on the October 10 episode of Dynamite Title Tuesday, ending her reign at 44 days. Soho attempted to interfere with the spray paint but was thwarted by Storm.[10] On the December 27 episode of Dynamite, Harley Cameron joined the group. On the February 9 episode of Rampage, Ruby Soho abandoned Saraya in a tag match and attacked Harley Cameron, leaving the Outcasts after weeks of dissension and gaslighting from Saraya, turning face. On the February 23 episode of Rampage, Saraya introduced her brother Zak Knight as the newest signee of AEW and member of The Outcasts, Knight is also the first male wrestler to join the group.
