The film begins at Kondaveedu court where its King Peda Komati Vema Reddy peremptory by Emperor of Vidyanagaram Prouda Devaraya to compete with his royal scholar Gowda Dindima Bhattu who is winning all-over poets in the country. Accordingly, victories can break Dindima Bhattu’s golden drum the symbol of their heritage if not bow down with his honor. Ergo, Vema Reddy triggers his proud Srinatha who pledges before Kondaveeti’s family deity sword Nandikanta Potaraju Katari and moves on. Srinatha is a whimsical & gourmet habituated to abundant life with his ideal wife Sridevi. Enroute, he makes a pilgrimage, craves flirtatious poems on beauties, and meets his brother-in-law Pothana a natural poet. Srinatha offers to conjoin him for living large which he politely denies because he possesses enormous pleasure as an agriculturist.

Once, at their halt, a snide village chieftain Karanam Nagaiah ruse to swindle the expenses allotted to Srinatha's hospitality. Anyhow, he is caught and penalized which begrudges him. So, he ploys by calling forth Raja Vallabharaya the satrap of the emperor against Srinatha. In that instant, Vallabharaya turns into a stan Srinatha who obeisance, plays host to him, and sentences Nagaiah. Consequently, Srinatha aids Vallabharaya to flourish in his novels Kridabhinamam & Naladamayaanthi via Srungara Naishadham. Next, Srinatha lands at Vidyanagaram where in a confab, Dindima Bhattu & his pupils declare his study is futile with mockery. Hence, Srinatha approaches royal ambassador Sarparaya Telunga and ingratiates his friendship by organizing a battle at the court of Prouda Devaraya. Here, Srinatha overpowers Dindima Bhattu and blasts the drum with his hubris. Moreover, the scholarly committee affirms Srinatha’s work is unique, is anointed with gold for his dexterity, and nobilitated as Kavi Sarvabhoma The Empire of Poets.

At the same time, Vema Reddy is backstabbed by Ram Singa Bhupala of Rachakonda and grabs the imperial sword. Being cognizant of it, Srinatha collapses, proceeds to Rachakonda, and retrieves the glory weapon in return for his literary prowess. But unfortunately, after he arrived at Kondaveedu the prince Chinna Vema Reddy comes to be debauchery that despises Srinatha. Thus, he quits the kingdom, relinquishing all his riches like an ordinary man. Time passes, and Srinatha becomes a rover, keen to have recourse at kings but in vain and be impoverished. At a point, he gets to Palnadu where he heckles at his topography. Then, the lord Chennakesava takes the shape of a kid, and enlightens him to sculpt their history which Srinatha does as Palanati Veeracharitra. Eventually, Srinatha settles in a village where back when Nagaiah seeks vengeance with the cabal and subjects him to torture. However, Nagaiah is worn out in public revolt when Srinatha is fed up and decides to off himself. Knowing it, Sridevi leaves her breath on her husband’s lap. Finally, the movie ends with Srinatha taking a watery grave and emerging in the sky towards heaven.
