In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1295.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 331 metres and covers an area of 5.79 km² (2.24 sq mi) (2020-06-30/-07-01).^[5]

It has a population of about 1,062 people (2020-12-31).^[6]
