Robertson Island, Tennessee

Robertson Island is an island on the Cumberland River in Davidson County, Tennessee, USA.[1] It is near its crossing with the Richland Creek.[1] It is the biggest island between Old Hickory Dam and Cheatham Dam.[1] It is close to the Tennessee State Penitentiary.[2]

History edit

The island was first settled by James Robertson, after whom it was named.[3] It later belonged to Leonard Cheatham, who named his plantation Westover.[3] He later sold it to Mark R. Cockrill.[3]

The plantation great house was demolished in 1936.[3]
