Muddula Mogudu (1997 film)

Muddula Mogudu (transl.Charming Husband) is a 1997 Indian Telugu-language drama film produced by K. Nageswara Rao, presented by Kaikala Satyanayana and directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy. It stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Meena, Ravali, and music composed by Koti. The film was released on 25 April 1997.[1]

Plot

The film begins with Vamsi an energetic guy who is under authentication that he is a reincarnation of Salim the son of 16th century Mughal Emperor Akbar. Plus, he has detached from his turtle dove Anarkali by walling up. Presently, he hunts her as Sirisha and chases her as white on rice. Since Vamsi vexes her, she make fool of him. Anyhow, Sirisha too flourishes after the apprehension of Vamsi's true love when he self-immolates. Shakuntala Devi crude woman of vanity is the mother of Sirisha who senses their love affair. Gnaneswara Rao the sly brother of Shakuntala ruses to knit Sirisha with his son Giri. So, Shakuntala proceeds to Vamsi and is aware that the nephew of her husband Bhaskar Rao. At this point, she traduces his family and bisects the beloved. Consequently, Vamsi is hit hard and hospitalized.

Currently, his mother Parvatamma & the remaining 2 maternal uncle land who chide Vamsi for endearing Sirisha. As well as, they state the depravity of Shakuntala Devi which attributed stigma to their family and spins rearward. 20 years ago, Shakuntala arranges for her son Seshu Babu's alliance with Gnaneswara Rao's daughter. But he loves and espouses Vamsi's sibling Padmavati. It envies the wicked when they cabal by setting down an illicit relationship with pregnant Padmavati which Seshu Babu believes and necks her out. Plus, brutal Gnaneswara Rao attempts to garrot Padmavati when she dies giving birth to baby girl Sarada. Now Parvatamma orders Vamsi to wed Sarada which he denies and declares only to join with Sirisha. Hence, Parvatamma moves to Shakuntala with the proposal which she concurs and keeps a constraint to entrust her riches in the name of Sirisha. Parvatamma accepts it, and the nuptial is accomplished.

Soon after the first night, Vamsi kicks out Sirisha by authorizing his property to her. Then, Shakuntala asks Vamsi and he replies. He married Sirisha only to spend 3 nights for which he paid his property as a price. On this, Vamsi's family looks for an answer but he maintains silence. Next, furious Sirisha forges fake certificates that she is a virgin, Vamsi is impotent and also throws away the wedding chain, yet, Vamsi thresholds with patience. However as startled, all the artifices of Shakuntala fail when Sirisha becomes pregnant. Therefrom, Vamsi starts heckling and denouncing them. Moreover, he announces his splice with Sarada. Thus, Shakuntala & Sirisha bow out and pleads for pardon from Vamsi by retrieving his property. Here Vamsi unfolds that the whole is his play as vengeance against Shakuntala for her evil doing toward his sister. Further, he is not going to accept Sirisha’s child as a reimbursement when his family detects his eminence. Listening to it, Bhaskar Rao smacks Shakuntala and quits the house. Parallelly, Sirisha attempts suicide which reforms Shakuntala but she is backstabbed by Gnaneswara Rao and he abducts Sirisha. Forthwith, Shakuntala expresses her sinister publicly and begs mercy from Vamsi. At last, Vamsi ceases the baddies and rescues his wife. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the reunion of the couple.

The film was reviewed by Zamin Ryot.[3] A critic from Andhra Today opined that "Although a story with a well tested theme and plot, Kodandarami Reddy's skillful & imaginative direction keep the audience's interest".[4]
