Jim Lightfoot (speedway rider)

James Arthur Lightfoot (11 November 1933 – 24 February 2023) was an international Motorcycle speedway rider from England.[1] He earned one international cap for the England national speedway team and three caps for the Great Britain team.[2]

Speedway career edit

Lightfoot reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1963 Individual Speedway World Championship.[3]

He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1953 to 1966, riding for Coventry Bees.[4] Jim was born within 4 miles of Coventry's Brandon Stadium and captained his team for a number of years.[5]

He helped Coventry win the Midland Cup on two occasions in 1960[6] and 1966.[7]

Lightfoot died on 24 February 2023.[8]
