Composition edit

"World So Cold" was written by Adam Gontier and produced by Howard Benson. The song runs at 140 BPM and is in the key of G# major. It runs for four minutes and three seconds.[3] The track was written prior to the release of the group's second studio album, One-X according to guitarist Barry Stock. The band had written the verse and pre-chorus at the time, however never transpired into anything.[4]

Speaking about the overall meaning of the track, Gontier stated, "the song is about losing somebody close to you in your life, it's how your life changes."[4]

Versions edit

"World So Cold (piano version)" was released on the Japanese edition of Life Starts Now and on the downloadable single for "Lost in You".[5][6]

Before the album was released, the band put a piano version without any vocals on their website.
