The population of Santiago de Paucaray (2005 census) is 1,030 people, 495 men and 535 women.[1]

Ethnic groups Edit

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (84.16%) learnt to speak in childhood, 15.84% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]
