Rob Nelson (baseball)

Robert Augustus Nelson (born May 17, 1964) is an American former professional baseball first baseman. He played parts of five seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1986 to 1990, for the Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres.[1]

Rob's career continued in the minors, playing in the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants organizations through 1994, as well as a stint in the Mexican League. In 1995, he was a "replacement player" during the 1994–95 Major League Baseball strike and participated in Spring Training with the replacement squad for the Cleveland Indians. Following that, Nelson concluded his pro baseball career with a stint in the independent Prairie League in 1995.
