Nara Apaya

Nara Apaya (Burmese: နရအဘယ; 1694 - 28 October 1761) was a king of the Mrauk-U Dynasty of Arakan from 1743 until his death in 1761. Born from poor background, he inherited the throne from his nephew.

During his reign, the country faced severe economic and political crisis that in order to solve, the king launched military campaign against the neighboring countries.

These incursions are known as "Harama Attack" planned led by his chief minister Gu Tha. The Arakanese raided the cities of Bassein, Dala, Danubyu and Hinthada as much of lower Irrawaddy valley in 1744 again in 1745 as the king poccessed many war booty. Later in the period between 1745 and 1749, which Arakan ravaged Bengal and carried away large amount of Bengali taken slaves to be sold at cattle market.

These attacks led to the kingdom's external threat eventually led to internal rebellion broke out in the country where the Myu people of edge of the Kaladan River revolted.

The King died soon after this and he was succeeded by his son.
