Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1967

Ireland was represented by Sean Dunphy, with the song "If I Could Choose", at the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 8 April in Vienna. The song was chosen in the third National Song Contest held on 12 February 1967 by RTÉ TV in Dublin, Ireland.

RTÉ asked 30 composers to submit entries, from which 10 would be chosen to compete. RTÉ asked for songs with "a distinct Irish flavour with lyrics in Irish or English.[1] Ultimately, only 9 songs were chosen for the contest.[2]

Final edit

The third edition of the National Song Contest was hosted by Brendan O'Reilly on 12 February 1967 at the studios of RTÉ in Dublin. The winner was chosen by postcard voting and the results were revealed on 19 February 1967.[3][4]

Ireland performed in 17th position (after Italy) of the 17 entries and finished in 2nd place with 22 points.
