Justice Gabriel Bigbie (born January 24, 1999) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Bigbie attended Grassfield High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and played college baseball at Western Carolina University. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 19th round of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.[1] He made his professional debut that year with the Florida Complex League Tigers.

Bigbie played 2022 with the Lakeland Flying Tigers and West Michigan Whitecaps and started 2023 with West Michigan before being promoted to the Erie SeaWolves.[2][3]

Garrett Sommer Burhenn (born September 12, 1999) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Burhenn grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and attended Lawrence North High School. He was named first team All-State as a senior.[4]

Burhenn played college baseball for the Ohio State Buckeyes for three seasons. He was named to the Big Ten Conference All-Freshman team in his first season after posting a 6–4 record with a 3.96 ERA and 69 strikeouts. Burhenn went 2–2 with an 8.02 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 21+13 innings pitched over four starts during his sophomore season before it was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.[5] As a junior, he went 7–2 with a 3.81 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 80+13 innings pitched and was named third team All-Big Ten.[6]

Burhenn was selected in the ninth round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers.[7] He signed with the team on July 21, 2021, and received a $160,800 signing bonus.[8] Burhenn was assigned to the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the Single-A Florida State League at the opening of the 2022 season.[9]

Francis Dillon Dingler (born September 17, 1998) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Dingler attended Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio, where he played baseball, basketball, and football, leading Jackson to state championships in both basketball and baseball his senior year.[10][11][12] Undrafted in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled at Ohio State University where he played college baseball for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

As a freshman at Ohio State in 2018, Dingler batted .244 with four home runs and 17 RBIs over 53 games.[13] He earned Big Ten Conference All-Freshman honors.[14] In 2019, his sophomore year, he was named a team captain.[15] He missed 19 games during the season due to a broken hamate bone in his left hand.[16] Over 49 games, he slashed .291/.392/.424 with three home runs and 19 RBIs, and was named to the All-Big Ten second team.[17][18] As a junior in 2019, Dingler once again was named a team captain.[19] He hit .340 with five home runs and 14 RBIs over 13 games before the college baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[20]

Dingler was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round with the 38th overall pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.[21] He signed for $1.93 million.[22] He did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the pandemic.[23] To begin the 2021 season, he was assigned to the West Michigan Whitecaps of the High-A Central.[24] After slashing .287/.376/.549 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs over 32 games, he was promoted to the Erie SeaWolves of the Double-A Northeast on June 13.[25] In early August, he was placed on the injured list with a finger injury.[26] He returned to play in early September.[27] Over fifty games with Erie, Dingler batted .202/.264/.314 with four home runs and twenty RBIs.[28] He returned to Erie for the 2022 season.[29] He was selected to represent the Tigers at the 2022 All-Star Futures Game.[30] Over 107 games with Erie, Dingler slashed .238/.333/.419 with 14 home runs, 58 RBIs, and 22 doubles.[31] He was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League for the Salt River Rafters after the season.[32]

On March 16, 2023, it was reported that Dingler would be out for four weeks after undergoing a meniscectomy procedure on his right knee.[33] After hitting .253 with 9 home runs and 41 RBI in 51 games for Double–A Erie, Dingler was promoted to the Triple–A Toledo Mud Hens in August 15.[34]

On November 14, 2023, the Tigers added Dingler to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He was optioned to Triple–A Toledo to begin the 2024 season.[35]

Wilmer De Jesus Flores (born February 20, 2001) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Flores played college baseball at Arizona Western College. He signed with the Detroit Tigers as an undrafted free agent in July 2020.[36] Flores spent his first professional season in 2021 with the Florida Complex League Tigers and Lakeland Flying Tigers. After the season he played in the Arizona Fall League.[37] Flores started 2022 with the West Michigan Whitecaps.[38]

On November 14, 2023, the Tigers added Flores to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He was optioned to the Triple–A Toledo Mud Hens to begin the 2024 season.[39]

His brother, also named Wilmer Flores, plays in Major League Baseball.[40]

Brant Harris Hurter (born September 6, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Hurter attended Woodstock High School in Woodstock, Georgia, and played college baseball at Georgia Tech.[41][42] In 2018, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[43] He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the seventh round of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.[44]

Hurter made his professional debut with the Lakeland Flying Tigers in 2022. He was later promoted to the West Michigan Whitecaps and Erie SeaWolves during the season.[45]

Hao-Yu Lee (born February 3, 2003) is a Taiwanese professional baseball infielder in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Lee played on the Chinese Taipei national baseball team in multiple international tournaments, including the World Baseball Softball Confederation U-12 Baseball World Cup, U-15 Baseball World Cup, and U-18 Baseball World Cup.[46]

Lee was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent on June 15, 2021, and received a $500,000 signing bonus.[47] After signing, he was assigned to the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Phillies, where he played in nine games and batted .364 with one home run, two doubles, two triples, and five RBIs.[48] Lee was assigned to the Clearwater Threshers of the Single-A Florida State League at the beginning of the 2022 season.[49]

On August 1, 2023, Lee was traded to the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Michael Lorenzen.[50]

Eddys Leopoldo Leonard (born November 10, 2000) is a Dominican professional baseball infielder for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Leonard signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an international free agent in July 2017. He made his debut in the Dominican Summer League in 2018, hitting .248 in 45 games.[51] In 2019 he played in 55 games, with the majority of them being for the Arizona League Dodgers and hit .285.[51] After sitting out the 2020 season due to the cancellation of the minor league season by the COVID-19 pandemic, he split the 2021 season between the Great Lakes Loons and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, hitting .296 with 22 home runs and 81 RBI in 107 games.[51]

On November 19, 2021, Leonard was added to the Dodgers 40-man roster to be protected from the Rule 5 draft.[52] In the 2022 season, he played in 127 games for Great Lakes, hitting .264 with 15 homers and 61 RBI.[51] Leonard was optioned to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers to begin the 2023 season.[53] In 92 games for Tulsa, he batted .254 with 11 home runs and 44 RBI. On July 28, 2023, Leonard was designated for assignment.[54]

On August 1, 2023, Leonard was traded to the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations.[55] In 40 games for the Triple–A Toledo Mud Hens, he batted .302/.374/.530 with 8 home runs and 31 RBI.

Leonard was optioned to Triple–A Toledo to begin the 2024 season.[56]

Justyn-Henry Conrad Malloy (born February 19, 2000) is an American baseball third baseman in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Malloy grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey, and attended Saint Joseph Regional High School. He committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt after his freshman year, during which he batted .329 with five home runs and 31 RBIs.[57] Malloy began his college baseball at Vanderbilt. He played mostly as a reserve for the Commodores over two seasons.[58] After his sophomore season, Malloy transferred Georgia Tech.[59] In his only season with the Yellow Jackets, he batted .308 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs.[60]

Malloy was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves.[61] After signing with the team for a bonus of $297,500,[62] he was assigned to the Low-A Augusta GreenJackets.[63] Malloy was assigned to the High-A Rome Braves at the beginning of the 2022 season.[64] He slashed .304/.409/.479 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles, and 44 RBIs in 71 games with Rome before being promoted to the Double-A Mississippi Braves in July.[65] Malloy appeared in 54 games with Mississippi, hit for a .268 batting average with 11 doubles, six home runs, 31 RBI, .403 OBP, and .824 OPS, and was promoted to the Gwinnett Braves in September.[66] After the 2022 Minor League Baseball season ended, MILB.com considered Malloy an organizational All-Star.[67] He was assigned to the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League in the 2022 offseason.[68] In the AFL, Malloy primarily played left field, a position he had started playing upon his promotion to Mississippi.[69][70]

On December 7, 2022, Malloy was traded to the Detroit Tigers along with LHP Jake Higginbotham for Joe Jimenez.[71][72] Malloy was assigned to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens to begin the 2023 season.[73] He was selected to play in the 2023 All-Star Futures Game.[74]

Tyler James Mattison (born September 5, 1999) is an American baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Mattison played college baseball at Bryant for four seasons. He was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year 10-3 with a 2.46 ERA and 95 strikeouts over 13 starts.[75] In 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[76]

Mattison was selected in the fourth round by the Detroit Tigers in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.[77] He signed with the team and received a $400,000 signing bonus.[78] Mattison was assigned to the Single-A Lakeland Flying Tigers at the start of the 2022 season, but suffered a shoulder injury in his professional debut and missed the next 2+12 months.[79] Mattison finished the season with a 7-0 record and a 5.23 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 32+23 innings pitched while with Lakeland.[80] He began the 2023 season with the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps and was promoted to the Double-A Erie SeaWolves after posting a 3.42 ERA over 19 appearances.[81]

Troy Edward Melton (born December 3, 2000) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Melton attended Canyon High School in Anaheim, California, and played college baseball at San Diego State University. As a junior in 2022, he went 5-2 with a 2.07 ERA and 67 strikeouts over 65+13 innings.[82] After the season, he was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft and signed.[83][84]

Melton made his professional debut with the Lakeland Flying Tigers, throwing a total of five innings for the season. He returned to Lakeland to open the 2023 season before being promoted to the West Michigan Whitecaps in mid-May.[85][86] Over 23 games (22 starts) between the two teams, he went 3-1 with a 2.74 ERA and 94 strikeouts over 92 innings.[87] Melton was assigned to the Erie SeaWolves to open the 2024 season.[88]

Keider Eduardo Montero (born July 6, 2000) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Montero signed with the Detroit Tigers as an international free agent in August 2016.[89] He made his professional debut in 2017 with the Dominican Summer League Tigers and played 2018 with them. He pitched 2019 with the Gulf Coast Tigers and Connecticut Tigers.

Montero did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[90] He returned in 2021 to play for the West Michigan Whitecaps and also spent 2022 with them. Montero started 2023 with West Michigan before being promoted to the Erie SeaWolves and Toledo Mud Hens.[91]

On November 14, 2023, the Tigers added Montero to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He was optioned to Triple–A Toledo to begin the 2024 season.[92]

Izaac Kane Pacheco (born November 18, 2002) is an American baseball shortstop in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Pacheco grew up in Friendswood, Texas, and attended Friendswood High School. He was named the 24-6A Newcomer of the Year after he hit .296 with 14 extra-base hits in his freshman season.[93] Pacheco was named the District 22-5A Offensive Most Valuable Player as a sophomore after he hit for a .442 average with five home runs, 15 RBIs, 25 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases.[94] As a senior, Pacheco as the District 22-5A MVP after batting .543 with six home runs, 12 doubles, 45 RBIs, and 41 runs scored.[95][96]

Pacheco was selected 39th overall in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers.[97] Pacheco signed with the team on July 23, 2021, and received a $2.75 million signing bonus.[98] Pacheco was assigned to the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Tigers after signing, where he batted .226 with four doubles, three triples, one home run, and seven RBIs.[99] He opened the 2022 season with the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the Single-A Florida State League.[100] Pacheco batted .267 with 21 doubles and eight home runs in 88 games with the team before being promoted to the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps.[101]

Daniel Phillip Serretti (born May 7, 2000) is an American professional baseball infielder in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Serretti attended Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and played college baseball at the University of North Carolina.[102] In 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and returned to the league in 2021 to play for the Chatham Anglers.[103][104] After four years at North Carolina, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the sixth round of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft.[105]

Serretti made his professional debut in 2022 with the Lakeland Flying Tigers and also played for the West Michigan Whitecaps and Erie SeaWolves.[106] He started 2023 with West Michigan.

Dylan Miguel Smith (born May 28, 2000) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Smith grew up in Stafford, Texas, and attended Stafford High School. He was selected in 18th round by the San Diego Padres in 2018 Major League Baseball draft, but opted not to sign with the team.[107]

Smith played college baseball at Alabama for three seasons. He appeared in 13 games as a freshman and had an ERA of 6.48.[108] Smith pitched 6+13 innings over four appearances with one start before the season ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic.[109] He became a starter prior to his junior season and went 2–8 with a 3.84 ERA with 113 strikeouts 20 walks in 98+13 innings pitched across 16 starts.[110]

Smith was selected in the 3rd round of the 2021 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers.[111] Smith signed with the team on July 26, 2021, and received a $1,115,000 signing bonus.[112]

Gage Tater Workman (born October 24, 1999) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Detroit Tigers organization.

Workman attended Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona, where he played baseball.[113] He was originally set to graduate in 2018, but reclassified to the class of 2017.[114] In 2017, he batted .396.[115][116] Following the season, he was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 14th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign, and instead chose to honor his commitment to play college baseball at Arizona State University.[117][118]

In 2018, Workman's freshman season, he appeared in fifty games (making 48 starts) in which he batted .276 with three home runs and 25 RBIs.[119] That summer, he played in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Brewster Whitecaps.[120][121] As a sophomore in 2019, he slashed .330/.413/.528 with eight home runs, 42 RBIs, and nine stolen bases over 57 games.[122][123] He earned honorable mention for both the All-Pac-12 team and the All-Pac-12 defensive team.[124] He returned to play in the Cape Cod League for Brewster, and was named a league all-star.[125][126] Over 17 games as a junior in 2020, he compiled three home runs and 14 RBIs before the college baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Workman was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round as the 102nd overall pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft, and signed.[127][128] He did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the pandemic.[129] To begin the 2021 season, he was assigned to the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the Low-A Southeast.[130] After slashing .256/.357/.426 with three home runs, 19 RBIs, 16 doubles, and 22 stolen bases over 51 games, he was promoted to the West Michigan Whitecaps of the High-A Central in early July.[131] Over 67 games with the Whitecaps, Workman batted .237/.302/.440 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs.[132] He was assigned to the Erie SeaWolves of the Double-A Eastern League for the 2022 season.[29] Over 128 games, he slashed .225/.276/.415 with 14 home runs, 68 RBIs, thirty stolen bases, and thirty doubles.[133] He was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League for the Salt River Rafters after the season.[32] He split the 2023 season between Erie and West Michigan, hitting .239 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs over 100 games.[134]

Workman's father, Widd, also played baseball at Arizona State and spent four seasons in the minor leagues with the San Diego Padres.[135] Workman is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and chose to skip his mission trip in order to continue playing college baseball without missing a season.[136] He and his wife, Alexa, married in November 2020.[137]
