Kinzimba was born in Luanda and grew up in Ingombota. She said she had a happy childhood and was interested in music from a young age. Her influences include Phyllis Hyman and Selena Quintanilla.[1] Kinzimba lived in Tanzania as a teenager because she had a sister who worked at the Angolan embassy. She moved to Guimarães, Portugal in 2014 to study and to have better opportunities.[2] Kinzimba took a law course in Porto.[1]
Her first single, "Primeira Vez", was released in October 2016.[6] In November 2017, she released her debut self-titled album.[7] "Deolinda Kinzimba" received three and a half stars from Sábado, praising Kimzimba's emotion and performance but criticizing the predictability of the record. Even so, the magazine said it was a good debut with several strong songs.[8] She took part in the Festival RTP da Canção 2017, at the invitation of songwriter Rita Redshoes, and reached the final of the event.[9]
