Verley played in five first-class matches for the Jamaican cricket team from 1894 to 1897.[2] His obituary in the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack described him as a "useful bowler" who played against R. S. Lucas' XI in 1895 and A. A. Priestley's XI in 1897.[3] He also captained the Jamaican polo team on a tour of Trinidad in 1905.[4]

Verley was killed in the 1907 Kingston earthquake. He was buried at Half Way Tree.[1]
