Aedy Moward

Edy Muwardi Abdul Aziz bin Abbid (29 November 1929 – 6 November 1980), better known by the stage name Aedy Moward, was an Indonesian actor and customs employee. He was known for being typecast as a father and unfaithful husband.

Moward was born Edy Muwardi Abdul Aziz bin Abbid on 29 November 1929 in Kuta Raja, a district in Aceh, Dutch East Indies.[1] He studied at the Faculty of Law at University of Indonesia in 1950.[1]

Personal life edit

Moward married and had eight children. He died at Cikini Hospital in Senen, Central Jakarta, on 6 November 1980 at 04.30 WIB (UTC+07:00) at the age of 50, and was buried at Karet Bivak Cemetery.[2]

In 1950, Moward was concerned about the quality of Indonesian film.[1] He and his university friends, Del Juzar and Awaloedin Djamin, later made their film debut by starring in Darah dan Doa (1950), which was directed by Usmar Ismail.[1] During the early 1950s he starred in several films, such as Krisis (1953)[1] Moward later took a hiatus from acting to become a customs employee; he returned to the film industry in the early 1960s.[1]

In 1974, he starred in Bulan Diatas Kuburan, which won him a Citra Award for Best Supporting Actor in the 1975 Indonesian Film Festival in Medan.[1] He later starred in other films, such as Rahasia Perawan (1975), Inem Pelayan Sexy (1976), Skandal (1978), Diujung Malam (1979).[1] His last film role was in Rojali dan Zuleha (1979), which earned him a critical response, along with his roles in several other films, which were Krisis, Tauhid (1964), Mama (1972), Atheis (1974), and the Inem Pelayan Sexy series.[3] In 1980, Moward was cast in production of Bidadari dari Surga, but he died before the film was finished.[2]
