The name Kompasu has been used to name four tropical cyclones in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. The name was contributed by Japan and is the Japanese word for Compass (Circinus).
Severe Tropical Storm Kompasu (2021) (T2118, 24W, Maring) - a very large and deadly tropical cyclone that carved a path of destruction from the Philippines, Taiwan, and southeast China.
In early 2023, the name Kompasu was announced to be retired and will no longer be used. In spring 2024, It was replaced by Tokei, meaning Clock (Horologium).[1]
