SGT Ray McKibben would be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions.

The 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry was based here from June 1969 until May 1970.[2]: 239  The 3rd Battalion, 503rd Infantry was based here from July–August 1969[4] On 1 April 1970 three People's Army of Vietnam Battalions attacked the base which was occupied by the 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry and the 44th ARVN Regiment, the attack was repulsed resulting in two U.S., two ARVN and 151 PAVN killed.
