He was born in Woodstock, Connecticut in 1821,[1] the son of Thomas Lawson and Lucy Johnson,[2] and came to Upper Canada with his family in 1830. He worked as a tanner in Port Dover.[3] In 1842, he married Sarah Ladd.[2] Lawson served as reeve for Woodhouse Township in Norfolk County.[1] He died in Port Dover at the age of 90.[2]
