Delwinder started his career with Tanjong Pagar United in the 2011 S.League season. Despite still being a teenager, he was handed the captaincy of the club at the age of 18.[4]
Delwinder was left without a club in 2015 after he was released by the Young Lions as his NS obligations meant that his unpredictable schedule made it hard for him to attend training regularly. He was given a lifeline when the LionsXII allowed him to train with them to keep up his fitness. He impressed Hougang United when he played for the LionsXII in a friendly against them and was subsequently offered a contract.[5]
After making over 40 starts in league and cup competitions for the Cheetahs, Delwinder was handed a contract extension for the 2017 S.League season.[6]

On 4 February 2020, after 8 years, Delwinder returned to his boyhood club, Tanjong Pagar United.
Delwinder was handed his first call-up to the Singapore national team in 2011.[7] He became one of the youngest player to represent the Lions when he made his debut for the senior team against Philippines at the age of 18.[4][8] As of March 2016[update], Delwinder has earned 5 international caps for his country.[8] He has also represented the Singapore U22.
