Agnidahaya

Agnidahaya (Fire and Water; Sinhala: අග්නිදාහය) is a 2002 Sri Lankan Sinhala film directed and produced by Jayantha Chandrasiri for Soyanno Films. It stars Jackson Anthony and Yashoda Wimaladharma in lead roles along with Kamal Addararachchi and Sanath Gunathilake. Music composed by Premasiri Khemadasa.^[1][2] It is the 996th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.^[3][4]

The film won seven golden awards and four silver awards at the Signis International Film Festival 2003.^[5]

Plot

Kirimanike is married to Herath Mudiyanse who is a trader, Sobana a helper to the village black magician/ punchi rale ,is in love with Kirimanke . Herath mudiyanse and kirimanike has no children of their own , hence Heath mudiyanse has asked Punchirale to do some chanting/ magic to remedy the childlessness , Punchirale is famous among the people as a black magician who did magic to make women fall in love with him, he got three wives of his own already. Kirimanike warns Herath mudiyanse that Punchirale is capable of these kind of matters so do not ask help from him regarding the remedy for the childlessness. Herath Mudiyanse brags about him being a trader and that traders are cunning people, that Punchirale should know better to have an good relationship with him .

 meanwhile when Herath mudiyanse is out on business , Sobana comes and peek from window at Kirimanike . krimanike wakes up and shout which brings all the people in the village saying there is a peeping top in the area. but by the time village people catch up to Sobana, he acts like he is doing some magic on his own and chase away the villages.Sobana goes to his master the Punchirala and explains that he likes kirimanike. and help do some black magic to make her love him. Punchirala refuses at first. After Herath muduyanse comes home from his business trip Kirimanike tells him incident at the day break while he was away. And warns that could have been Punchirala sent Sobana to do some black magic on her . Mudiyanse brags that Punchirala should know better before he start picking up bones with him. Never the less Hearath Mudiyanse get drunk one evening and goes to Punchi rala , and scold him that he is trying to get his wife as well by black magic on top of three wives he got already. Punchi rala says I have done nothing of the sort , but if he wanted that would not have been a big deal for him . Herath mudiyanse challenges him and Punchirala with his rage starts to chant, after a few mins an old lady comes through the gate . Heaarth Mudiyanse laughs , but soon after Kirimanike comes to the house saying I was looking all over for you towards Hearath Mudiyanse. Punchirala without showing any sign of anger as before asks Kirimanike to stop and he gives Kirimaninke a neck ornament which is infused with magic so se can bear children. few days passed and Hearth Mudiyanse grow suspicious on the magic done by punchi rala to Kirimanike. he follows her when Kirimanike goes to get water. and sees that she is looking at the neck ornament given by Punchirala. Herath Mudiyanse shouts at her saying he has done magic to enchant you. and acts weird from then on, he asks her to remove the neck ornament, but later finds kirimanike down on the house floor sick , and he put the ornament back on which eventually makes her better after a while. Herath Mudiyanse grow more and more suspicious of Kirimanike, and acts more and more weird towards her. one day he comes back early from his business trip and peek on her she gets angry on this , and when Hearth Mudiyanse tries to hit her she reminds him that he is living under her roof and eats what she cooks , which she has used earlier whenever he tries to hit her, but this time He gets his stuff and moves out of the house. after he is gone Kirimanike cries asking villages to bring him back. Hearh mudiyanse goes to Punchi rala's house at night . He hears that Sobana and Punchi rala talking of him and Krimanike. When Punchirala goes out of the house to urinate . he hits him , but not a fatal blow , Sobana runs after Herath mudiyanse and hits him a fatal blow , Punchi rala comes to place and asks him to bring some water , Sobana disagree and suggests that we leave him to die. Punchi rala shouts at him and ask to bring some water . Sobana returns after a while saying there is no water to be found. Punchirala says guard him while he finds some water and leaves , Sobana kills Hearth Mudiyanse while Punchirala is gone. Next morning villages found Hearth Mudiyanse dead . with a palm mark on the back , villages agree that Mahasona killed him. at the point Kirimanike faints and Sobana amid all this gets her and run villages run after but Sobana draws a line on the ground and says no one cross this line , as he is an apprentice for Punchirala no ones dares to cross , meanwhile he gets a flowers which Punchirala gave him and rubs on Kirimanike 's face and that ought to make her fall in love with him. 

Meanwhile PunchiRala is in contact with some aristocratic people who come to visit him now and then at night without any notice to anyone , they are planning a coup against the current king to overthrow him. On Previous occasions Punchi rala advice them not to make any move stating that ,King’s astrological chart is strong on these days. One day there is a comet visible on the sky Villages panic , and come to Punchi rala’s house. Punchi rala says to them there is nothing to worry for them . But King should worry a little .At that night Kirimanaike and Sobana falls in love. Sobana and Kirimanike moves in . and Sobana start to work as a farmer leaving the apprenticeship aside with Punchi rala. One day Puchirala comes to Sobana’s house un announced.Sobana isn’t happy with it he assumes that Punchirala is after Kirimanike . Punchirala asks sobana to go around the village and inform everyone that the coup has been successful and Punchirala himself is the Korale of the region now. Sobana isn’t happy to leave Kirimanike and Punchirala alone but Punchirala orders him he leaves. Sobana return to house at night after completing his job by Punchirala. He is upset and kirimanike suggest that they leave to Sbaragamuwa as Rate Mahathaya on that area is a good friend of Kirimanike’s late farther and he will let them settle there. Sobana agrees and asks her to tell no one where they are going. Kirimanike says will only tell her aunt. On the day after Punchirala comes to the village with his new robes befitting his new status and his private guard and asks the villages where Sobana and Kirimanike left to. No one says anything and Punchirala threatens that he will burn the whole village. Then Kirimanike’s aunt comes and tell that they left to Sabaragamuwa. Meanwhile in Sabaragamuwa , Kirimanike and Sobana get settled in . Sobana becomes village Black magician. They are happy in their new location One day when Sobana returns from farm. He sees that Punchirala is there at his house . Punchirala says coup went bad and now he is wanted by the king’s men. Asks him to hide him in the house . Sobana says to villages that Kirimanike is sick with chicken pox and has to stay inside house. Meanwhike Kirimanike is falling in love with Punchirala. Sobana feels it and he goes away one morning and come back late at night , after few hours King’s men come and take Punchirala, thanking Sobana.

 After few days Punchirala returns in the middle of the night with wounds all over him .saying that he escaped. And ask Sobana to chat a magic spell now outside.Sobana goes out to the front of the house and starts chating. Meanwhike Kirimanike and punchirala have sex. And soon after chat finishes . King’s men rush in and decapitate Punchirala. Movie ends with showing Kirimanike carrying a pot of ash and showing that kirimanike is pregnant .
