1791 Virginia gubernatorial election

The 1791 Virginia gubernatorial election was held on 30 November 1791 in order to elect the Governor of Virginia. Former Federalist Delegate to the Confederation Congress from Virginia Henry Lee III defeated incumbent Federalist member of Virginia's Executive Council James Wood and Robert Harvey in a Virginia General Assembly vote.[1]

On election day, 30 November 1791, Federalist Henry Lee III won the election against fellow Federalist candidate James Wood. Lee was sworn in as the 9th Governor of Virginia on 1 December 1791.[2]
